**Monthly Data Transfer Policy
All Broadband Internet Packages include a Monthly Data Transfer threshold. The threshold is the allowed amount of data that can be transferred to or from the internet to your computer or network in one month at no additional cost. LocalTel measures the transfer amount in Gigabytes.
Definition: Monthly Data Transfer
A data transfer rate (or often just data rate) is the amount of digital data that is moved from one web address to another in a given time. In general, the greater the bandwidth of a given path, the higher the data transfer rate.

Although LocalTel & NWInternet does not limit the amount of data that can be transferred we do set a Gigabyte threshold for each broadband account and bill for excess data transferred above that Gigabyte threshold.

LocalTel & NWInternet measure the data transferred in Gigabyte monthly for each individual IP address per broadband internet account; then combines them to determine the total amount of Gigabyte used on that single account. The individual IP & total combined account Gigabyte Data Transfer amount/s will be reported on your bill the following month.

Note: All Internet accounts come with 1 IP Address. Additional IP Addresses can be purchased. However, additional IP addresses do not increase the Monthly Data Transfer Threshold on an individual internet account.

If you exceeded your total allowed threshold, your bill will also reflect a $1.00 per excess Gigabyte charge. If you buy a FatPack, the threshold amount will be increased and the excess rate will be reduced as listed in the FatPack's below.

Example: If Customer's Monthly Data Transfer Threshold is 25 Gigabytes and the customer uses 30 Gigabytes in one month, he will be billed an additional $5.00 for the 5 Gigabytes of excess threshold usage (25GB X $1.00 = $5.00)

Exception: Customers who use multiple services from LocalTel & NWInternet will be allowed to use
1 Additional Gigabyte* of Monthly Data Transfer per month for each $10.00 billed or the package threshold amounts, whichever is greater.

Exception Example: Customer's Pre-Tax Bill Totals $500.00, the allowed Monthly Data Transfer threshold will be 50 Gigabyte ($500 ÷ $10 X 1Gigabyte = 50GB* threshold)
 
 
Will this policy affect you?  Probably not:  This policy will only affect you if you are an extremely heavy Internet user, virus infected, run a server(s), file share, download lots of movies, music, pictures or streaming audio and/or video.  If you use the internet in this way, to save money, you may want to buy a FatPack listed below.

 If you do not use the Internet for these purposes this policy will likely not affect you.  For casual Internet surfing you would have to view 200,000 web pages every day or transfer 5,000,000 average sized e-mails every day for the whole month to exceed 20 Gigabytes of Monthly Data Transfer.
 
Note: 98% of all LocalTel & Northwest Internet Broadband Customers use less than 20 Gigabytes of Monthly Data Transfer.

Business DSL Installation & Activation Costs

Because of the complexity of installing DSL, LocalTel requires a signed installation quote before DSL can be installed or activated. In some cases installation is quick and inexpensive such as single computer businesses with one or two phone jacks. In other cases installation may require extensive cabling, network & computer configuration for multiple computers or locations which may require extensive tech-time. In order to protect you as a customer and LocalTel, we will gladly come out and quote DSL installation at no additional cost. If you have existing DSL we will still require a quote to determine service, server & network compatibility.
